QR code guidance

A QR code only helps if it scans on the first try. This tool keeps the contrast, white border, and error correction where phones need them.

  1. Choose what the code opens, then enter the website, email address, phone number, or text.
  2. Pick the code color, the corner squares, and the center logo.
  3. Add a short label, such as Scan to join Civil Air Patrol, and choose the printed width.
  4. Scan the preview with your phone to make sure it opens the right place.
  5. Choose PNG for documents and slides, or PDF, EPS, or SVG for print, and select Download.

Your file is named for your unit and this tool, such as CAP_qr-code_gocivilairpatrol-com.png, so it’s easy to find in your downloads.

  • Point the code to an official CAP page, like GoCivilAirPatrol.com or your unit’s page, and open the link yourself first.
  • Scan the printed code with at least two different phones before you print a stack of them.
  • Print the code at least 1 in wide. For a booth sign, allow about 1 in of code for every 10 in people will stand from it.
  • Keep the white border. Don’t crop it, cover it, or set the code on a photo or pattern.
  • Anything sold with CAP logos or wordmarks needs a trademark license. Talk to the brand team before you order merchandise for resale.

Short links make simpler codes that scan faster.

Look

Codes stay dark on white, the way every phone reads them.

Center logo

A center logo turns on the highest error correction, so the code still scans with part of it covered.

Label and size

A short call to action tells people why to scan.

The width sets the size of PDF, EPS, and SVG files. Vector files scale to any size; PNG size matters for documents and slides.
