Every newsletter gets the same look: your unit’s logo and the newsletter’s name on a CAP Blue masthead, the commander’s column and your stories on the left, and the calendar and meeting details on the right. Anything that doesn’t fit on the first page continues on a second page in two columns.
- Name the newsletter and the issue, such as November 2026, Volume 3, Issue 11.
- Write the commander’s column, or paste it, with a blank line between paragraphs.
- Add up to four articles, each with an optional photo, caption, and pull quote, and a spotlight such as the Cadet of the Month.
- List upcoming events, one per line, and your meeting details.
- Check the preview, then download the PDF to print or email, or the Word file to keep editing.
Your file is named for your unit, this tool, and the issue, such as TX-388_newsletter_November-2026.pdf, so it’s easy to find in your downloads.
- Spell out Civil Air Patrol the first time, then use CAP. Follow AP style for grades, dates, and times.
- Lead each story with who did what, and keep it short. Two or three paragraphs is plenty.
- Use your own photos, and only of members and guests who agreed to be photographed. Cadets need a parent’s or guardian’s photo release.
- Name people in captions from left to right, with grade and name.
- Send it to the brand team for a review before you publish if you aren’t sure.
